LabCoatGigs Volunteers with Project Pinstripe

The founders of LabCoatGigs lend their interviewing skills to help prepare young men for future job interviews.

DETROIT - March 27, 2014 - PRLog -- LabCoatGigs gave back to the community on Saturday, March 22, 2014 by volunteering with Project Pinstripe at YouthVille Detroit in Detroit, MI. Collaborating partner, Tom James, the suiting retailer, donated and fitted suits for 100 young men in high school from the Detroit Metro area.

Project Pinstripe is a nationwide not-for-profit event that began in 2005 that provides career education, confidence building skills and tailored suits to underprivileged young men.  This program’s mission is to position young men for success in the business world.

As they say, clothes make the man – well not entirely, but it certainly helps in boosting self-esteem and projecting a professional look that speaks before you even open your mouth!

Tina Johnson and Danielle Griffin, 2 of the 3 founders and owners of LabCoatGigs, (3rd partner Rocelious Goodson, PA-C was unable to attend due to his weekend PA gig, but really wanted to be there with his partners!) donated their time, passion and professional interviewing skills for 4 hours interacting with the young men and conducting mock interviews.  Both Tina and Danielle come from Human Resources and Recruitment backgrounds and have logged many interview hours over the course of their 20 year career experience combined! Conducting mock interviews and providing valuable feedback was right up their alley. Having experience on both sides of the desk, they were eager to share the do’s, don’ts and ways to represent the best you in a job interview.

Danielle Griffin remembers, “Growing up, I admired my mother as she put on her “powersuit” with those 1980's big bold shoulder pads and headed to work.  I thought, that means power, business and success and she’s a woman, I want to be that!  So, I understand and fully support teaching these valuable lessons of professionalism, confidence and preparation for success!”

Additionally, Tina Johnson enjoyed partnering and networking with the organizers who championed this event, “I was both impressed and motivated by the number of  partners from the community who came out to lend a helping hand, share their own success stories and be cheerleaders for these young men and say ‘you can be whoever and whatever you want to be!’  This is what LabCoatGigs believes in and we will continue to build up our youth and support efforts and the preparation of our youth for college, the workplace, entrepreneurship and dreaming big!"

LabCoatGigs was thrilled to have been a part of this positive program.  Where will LabCoatGigs volunteer and who will they partner with next?  Keep your eyes peeled, as they are active in the community!
