However, when the professor returned, it was found that 2 out of 3 kids couldn’t simply resist and ate the marshmallows. What really interesting was that those kids who didn’t eat the marshmallow, at an early age of 4 understood the most important principle for success-“The ability to delay the gratification.” After 15 years of this study when they went to look for these kids, it was found that all those kids who didn’t eat the marshmallows were successful and happy with their lives. They had good grades, had good rapport with their teachers and other students, and had plans for their future. On the other hand, those kids who ate the marshmallows weren’t doing so well (majority of them). Some didn’t make it to University; some had bad grades or dropped out of school.
