Windsor International Writers Conference, Windsor, Ontario
WRITING ACROSS BOUNDARIES, St. Clair Centre for the Creative Arts, Windsor, Ontario
Join us at the friendliest and liveliest writers’ conference around. You’ll have the chance to meet other writers and learn the craft and tricks of the trade. We’ll explore the ethics of writing and how to tell a really good story,” says Pam Goldstein, conference chair. “We’ll also examine writing for minorities and cultures. Be inspired by the best of the best authors in the business. And, we’ll have some publishers and agents hanging around, just in case you might want to meet them as well. This is a first-class international writers conference for 400+ people.”
Windsor is recognized throughout the world for its plethora of brilliant writers. Three of region’s writers, Nino Ricci and Alistair MacLeod, who will be speaking at the conference, and Christopher Curtis are major award winners – the Booker, the Giller, the Governor General’s award to name but a few. Windsor also has five publishing houses in town – unheard of in a city this size.
“On our website (wi-wc.org) you will find everything you need to know about the conference and how it came about, who the speakers are and what topics will be explored. And just in case you want to come early or stay a few days more we are going to give you information about what there is to see and experience around town -- Windsor and Detroit,” adds Goldstein.
What to expect? The writers conference starts on Thursday evening at 7 pm with the first featured speaker and a Welcome reception and Greet & Meet. The learning, discovery and excitement will keep on going until Sunday at noon.
