Are Corporate Insiders in the Know???

ELK GROVE, Calif. - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Many have been talking about the bear market and its 5 year reign and some have the belief that clear skies are ahead but many corporate insiders might be showing a bearish cloud. According to www.marketwatch.com corporate insiders are about as negative on the market as they were in the days leading up to the crash of 2008.

What is happening is many company insiders are selling their shares of their own company, now some of this might be due to retirement but the number and amount of shares being sold shows a different light.

According to the article in Marketwatch, "Corporate insiders are a legally-defined group containing a company’s officers, directors, or shareholders owning at least 10% of its outstanding shares. Any time insiders buy or sell shares of their company’s stock, they must report the transaction more or less immediately to the SEC, which makes the data available to the public".

Just because we are seeing a shift to bearishness by corporate insiders does not mean we will see a 2008 scenario. As many analysts and economists are pointing out the major domestic market indexes are ready for a correction of some sort and some of this selling may be related to that belief.

Before we breathe a sigh of relief we must look at some of the writing on the wall first. As we look at the articles praising the market bull run fro the last five years one thing we must remember is the power of chart dates. What this means is the dates that we pick for a chart can make all the difference in the world.

According to an article in Marketwatch if we were to look at major indexes at a 6.5 year range we might not be singing the praises of the market in quite the same way. The article also points out that March 10th was the anniversary of the tech bubble burst which makes the index picture look even worse.

The stock market advisors and fund managers are trying to distract us from these numbers and keep us focused on trying to beat the market. "The inflation-adjusted numbers paint an even more dismal picture. Since March 2000, for example, the stock market has outperformed the CPI by just 1.3 percentage points a year on an annualized basis."
