Follow on Google News | Energy efficient ‘affordable luxuries’ top wishlists for house huntersThe new Ask For Underfloor campaign launches to homeowners nationwide.
By: Ask for Underfloor Not just desirable for those moving into new homes, underfloor heating is increasingly being fitted into many existing homes, according to the experts behind a new independent consumer campaign, Ask for Underfloor. The campaign’s website, www.askforunderfloor.org.uk, hosts a wealth of information about underfloor heating including key facts, ways to ensure compatibility with existing heat sources such as boilers, and details of trusted and reliable UK suppliers. Chris Ingram, from the Ask for Underfloor campaign, explains: “It’s no surprise that almost half (47%) of those surveyed said that when they next move, the most important factor will be to buy a home which has features which will help to lower fuel bills. Over a third (36%) of savvy homeowners told us they would look for underfloor heating. “More than two thirds of people in our survey (68%) told us that if a home had affordable luxuries such as underfloor heating, they would be prepared to pay more than £2,500 extra on the asking price. In fact, advancements in technology mean that underfloor heating is more affordable than ever. A water-based underfloor heating system for an average three-bed detached home could cost from around £2,100. “For homeowners looking to add value, and luxury, to a house - and for those searching for their next home - underfloor heating appears to be an attractive, affordable feature.” With temperature and time controls for each individual room, underfloor heating delivers a radiated heat only where and when it is required. Running at a lower temperature than many other conventional heat sources, and using water rather than electricity, over time homeowners see a reduction in their energy bills while enjoying the warmth, luxury and comfort of underfloor heating. With different types of underfloor heating systems available, not all require excavation work to be completed. Some can simply be fitted over an existing floor and under a carpet, raising the floor by as little as 2cm. Yet more underfloor heating systems exist for blocks of flats to help dwellers make the most of their living space by freeing up valuable wall space otherwise taken up by a heater. “Homeowners will be surprised at how flexible and easy it is to fit underfloor heating alongside an existing heating system. This means that it can be fitted throughout a home or added to just a single room, most commonly to a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or conservatory,” For more information visit the independent Ask for Underfloor (http://www.askforunderfloor.org.uk/ ENDS End
