BBI Solutions are supporting EQA Schemes in pursuit of accurate diagnostic results

LLANISHEN, Wales - March 7, 2014 - PRLog -- External Quality Assessment (EQA) is defined by the World Health Organisation as ‘a system of objectively checking laboratory results by means of an external agency’. This independent checking is coordinated by EQA schemes, which manufacture identical control samples and distribute them to diagnostic laboratories on a local and global scale. The laboratories then test the sample in the same way as they would a normal patient and then return the results to the EQA assessment centre. The EQA assessment centre collates hundreds of results to determine the accuracy of the individual laboratories participating in the scheme. The scheme then provides continual training, feeding into large quality management systems to drive improved processes across the board.

To manufacture these control samples, EQA schemes require blood based biological materials, for example Hepatitis B positive human serum, or human plasma with elevated levels of thyroid peroxidase antibodies. BBI Solutions operate direct collection facilities in multiple countries to support the IVD industry with these essential raw materials.
