What is intellectual property? Intellectual Property, according to Wikipedia is a legal concept which refers to creations of the mind for which exclusive rights are recognized. Under intellectual property law, owners are granted certain exclusive rights to a variety of intangible assets, such as musical, literary, and artistic works; discoveries and inventions; and words, phrases, symbols, and designs. Common types of intellectual property rights include copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights, trade dress, and in some jurisdictions trade secrets.

According to Nicole Seibert this could be the biggest theft of intellectual property in American History.

In 1991 Nicole Seibert met 3 men in a bar, all three men were together.

Nicole Seibert gave them 3 ideas, designed systems and processes plus gave the three men the company names for those ideas in one night:

1. Unknown man, Aircell, needed internet on planes

Aircell is an in-flight broadband internet service.

According to Wikipedia Aircell is authorized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use frequencies in the 800 MHz band for inflight communications. Aircell began in 1991 in a barbecue joint in Denison, Texas, where company founder Jimmy Ray sketched the idea for an affordable telephone system for private airplanes on a paper napkin. Aircell is the parent company of gogo, Inc. Aircell is headquarted in Itasca, Illinois and is claims founded in 1991 by Jimmy Ray.

2. Unknown man, Eloqua, faster production for marketing content or marketing automation

Eloqua Corp is a marketing automation company which develops automated marketing and demand generation software for business to business marketers. It was the first company of its kind and the start of an industry.

According to Wikipedia, Joe Payne was the Chairman and CEO, Steven Woods is the CTO and Andre Yee is the VP of Engineering. Oracle Corporation is the Parent Company for Eloqua. Eloqua is headquarted in Vienna, Virginia and was founded in 1999.

3. Kevin Costello, Ariba, purchasing automation

Ariba is a software and information technology company. It was the first company of its kind and the start of an industry.

According to Wikipedia, Ariba is headquarted in Sunnyvale, California and was founded in 1996 by Bobby Lent, Boris Putanec, Paul Touw, Rob Desantis, Ed Kinsey, Paul Hegarty and Keith Krach. Parent Company for Ariba is SAP AG.
