PRLog -- CareBeacon is the first hands-free automated emergency transmitter alert app for smart phones. It was designed to help families who want to monitor the well being of their loved ones by monitoring movement. CareBeacon will immediately contact family and friends with text and voice messaging in case of an emergency. CareBeacon uses advanced global positioning (GPS) and motion sensing accelerometers in the iPhone to detect a fall or other issues. CareBeacon works anywhere where you have a cellular connection. Whether an emergency occurs in the mall or the garden, CareBeacon automatically sends a text (SMS) message and calls family and friends with your GPS location.
CareBeacon is designed following National Institute on Aging, American Foundation for the Blind and ADA guidelines. The CareBeacon app is free and works with an iPhone 4 or above with any cellular service plan.
CareBeacon is designed and built in Los Angeles by Bob Schoenburg, age 71, and Toby Northcote-Smith, age 41, after a mutual friend was diagnosed with the blood disorder myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS*). He returned home from the hospital treatment and was left in the care of his wife until she had to return to work. She called when she could but spent most of the time worrying about her husband. Toby and Bob wondered why wasn't there a solution to keep their friend safe and provide peace of mind for his wife? It suddenly dawned on them that they could apply their knowledge of mobile application design to the problem. Together they have over 30 years experience in software development including successful Mac products, iPhone Apps and significant background in the creation of mobile and business critical applications. This father and son team is committed to providing peace of mind and saving lives in the event of an emergency.
