The Kiss-a-Pig Campaign Kicks Off with a Press Conference and Flash Mob Performance

Feb. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- A flash mob will perform a rendition of “Oink” to the tune of “Vogue” by Madonna to kick off the 22nd Annual Kiss-a-Pig Campaign at the City Market’s Wild Wing stage in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday, March 1. This year’s American Diabetes Association (ADA) fundraising effort is sponsored by the New River Auto Mall Luxury Group (, with individual New River Auto Mall dealerships “adopting” each of the competing Kiss-a-Pig teams and displaying their vehicles at all events.

In addition to the flash mob performance on March 1, Wet Willies in City Market will be offering “Pig-Tini” daiquiri drink specials, with a portion of all proceeds going to benefit the Kiss-a-Pig campaign.

A regional three-month campaign that consists of a competition between community leaders who form teams to raise money for the ADA, Kiss-a-Pig features competitors from throughout the southeast Georgia area. The team that has collected the most money gets to kiss a live pig, an animal honored by ADA for being the original source of insulin.

“We’re looking forward to all of the great events coming up this Spring as part of the InstaHAM campaign,” said Jill Jauch, Marketing & Advertising Manager at New River Auto Mall. “We’ll have our gorgeous cars on display at most of the events, and we’re excited to be involved with such a great organization.”

The theme of this year’s fundraiser is InstaHAM, and will concentrate on the use of social media to increase diabetes awareness, as well as to promote the events staged by the various competing teams.

Team members represent a cross-section of area professionals, including lawyers, business leaders, educators, and church officials. All the teams have a wide variety of fun-filled events planned, all to benefit the important work being done by the American Diabetes Association. The winner of the Kiss-a-Pig contest will be announced on May 10.
