PRLog -- On February 7, 2014, over forty volunteers led by members of the ETS staff read one-on-one with First Graders at Roosevelt Elementary School in West Palm Beach as part of the monthly “Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddies” initiative. This First Friday initiative, where adult volunteers donate their lunch hour to these deserving children, began a year ago with four volunteers and has quickly expanded. Roland Roth, ETS Executive VP for Customer Service, says the program is “a positive response to the tragedy that happened over a year ago at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. We want to improve literacy, knowing literacy improves lives, for these children. It is our hope to continue to recruit more volunteers and hopefully have every First Grader, all 98 of them, reading one-on-one with a local volunteer for one hour the First Friday of each month.” If you would like to join the Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddy program please contact Roland Roth at Engineered Tax Services.
