Anti-Counterfeit Methodology & Strategy For 2014

DEER PARK, N.Y. - Jan. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Much progress has been made in anti-counterfeit technologies over the last decade. However, while we’ve
seen improved tracking systems and greater transparency within our industry, counterfeiters continue to
develop more advanced techniques and new deceptions with each passing year. Thus, everyone in the supply
chain is required to work even more diligently to sustain best practices in quality assurance, while staying on
the pulse of advancing detection methodologies.
One of the ways Harry Krantz Company seeks to maintain the knowledge and pace in this fast-paced
environment is to work closely with the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA).
Beginning this year, Harry Krantz joined a key committee within the IDEA to engage in the process of
assessing and upgrading standards related to the detection of substandard and counterfeit components.
“The incidence of counterfeit parts appearing in the supply chain has risen sharply in recent years, so acquiring
knowledge in the latest inspection processes and industry standards is more vital than ever,” said Camie
Genna, Director of Quality Control, Harry Krantz Company. “Sitting on a committee of a leading national
trade association places us in the ideal position to be part of these important quality control conversations, and
provides us with critical information that we can then implement within our own procedures.”
Also at Harry Krantz, on-site training in brand new counterfeit detection techniques will be conducted in the
first quarter of this year. 2014 will also bring a greater emphasis on cross-department training in order to
optimize productivity. Not only will personnel acquire extensive knowledge on other departments’ day-to-day
responsibilities, but this program will provide an even clearer visual of how those jobs fit into the larger
picture.
At the core of Harry Krantz’s detailed and responsible inspection process is its customized Inspection Report
Program; the deployment of X-ray imaging, XRF RoHS, heated solvents and decapsulation; a robust staff of
certified inspectors and engineers; and licensed third-party laboratories – all in accordance with the highest
industry standards.
Ms. Genna added, “We take great pride in providing only high-quality, certifiable and OEM-traceable product,
and we look forward to another year of using the most stringent of measures and our all-hands-on-deck
approach to fight the ongoing counterfeit battle.”
