-- New York, NY American Conference Institute (ACI) has announced that it will be holding its 4th Advanced Summit on Medical Device Patents in Chicago at the InterContinental Magnificent Mile on March 24-26, 2014. This unique program features a distinguished faculty of close to 30 leading medical device IP experts - including experienced federal Judges, senior in-house counsel to medical device companies, and preeminent patent prosecutors and litigators- who will address the challenges and opportunities facing the medical device industry including the impact of post-grant review and inter partes review procedures under patent reform, the rise of the NPE in the medical device context, and increasingly strict patentability standards.
“As patents continue to play an increasingly key role in the medical device space, ACI offers the most up-to-date and comprehensive program for industry lawyers and experts to share their insights and strategies in the ever-changing legal landscape,” said Jeremy Lowe, a experienced patent litigator with Axinn, Veltrop, & Harkrider in Connecticut and founder of the "Medical Device Litigation Forum,” the top LinkedIn discussion group for medical device patent issues.
Highlights of this year’s program include a panel of experienced federal Judges discussing the kinds of arguments and claims they find most effective when presiding over a medical device IP dispute; an Ethics session on inequitable conduct in medical device patent practice; an interactive mock Markman hearing and claim construction strategy session; a panel of in-house counsel discussing cost management in high-stakes medical device patent litigation; and new sessions on NPEs in the medical device space, the Medtronic v. Boston Scientific
case, and willful infringement post-Bard v. Gore
