From Prison To Author Of A Prison Series

A penitentiary so dangerous that other maximum security prisoners don't wanna go!

WASHINGTON - Jan. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- “THE HILL” and “THE WALL” takes the readers on a journey through D.C.’s only and deadliest prison in the world, Lorton.  This is a fictional tale about “Sherman’s” experience as a new prisoner with a short sentence in a prison with hundreds of convicted murderers with life sentences.  He quickly learns that this is a do or die environment where everyone is prey.

The readers will learn that there are two sets of rules in prison.  There are the institutional rules and the convict rules.  The institutional rules can have you sent to solitary confinement. The convict rules can get you killed.  Either way, someone is guaranteed to die, will it be Sherman?

Both books were written by Lamont Carey, who was born in DC but raised in prison.  He was charged as an adult, convicted and sent to prison for 11 years when he was a juvenile.  While incarcerated, he re-evaluated his life and was determined to become a better person.  It was through that process that he discovered he could write.  He soon began to write books while still in prison and became the one to go to if you wanted something good to read.  Since his release over 12 years ago, he has become an internationally known multi-talented writer, spokenword artist and motivational speaker.  He has appeared on HBO’s “The Wire”, “Def Poetry Jam” and B.E.T.’s Lyric Café.  He spends most of his time speaking to at-risk youth and adult prisoners about becoming productive and successful individuals, making the necessary life changes and overcoming life’s challenges.

Come and meet Lamont Carey LIVE at the Anacostia Library for a book talk about his critically acclaimed prison series “THE HILL” and “THE WALL”.
