Plan to Read the Bible in 2014

ABibleADay.com and Peter DeHaan Publish Bible Reading Schedules for New Year

MATTAWAN, Mich. - Dec. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Now in its ninth year, Peter DeHaan recently released his Bible reading plans for 2014 to encourage regular Bible reading. In addition to his plans to read just the New Testament or Old Testament in one year, DeHaan also unveiled his new schedule to read the entire Bible in 2014. All three plans are free, which users may share without restriction.

“For years people have been asking for a reading plan to cover the entire Bible in one year,” said Peter DeHaan. “I’m pleased to offer it this year.” By reading about fifteen minutes a day, an average reader can read the entire Bible in one year.

For those who want to focus on just the Old Testament, the time needed is around twelve minutes a day, while the New Testament plan is much less of a commitment, requiring only about three minutes a day, Monday through Friday. For people who want a less ambitious approach, DeHaan also provides monthly suggestions.

“People tell me how much they enjoy following my reading plans. Often I receive emails in December, asking about the next year’s plan,” DeHaan added. “Their enthusiasm is encouraging.”

DeHaan’s method for all the options is to move through the Bible in sections, reading from only one book each day, completing that book before moving on to the next one. However, the schedule does not call for reading the Bible straight through from page one to the end, “as it’s too easy to get bogged down by one genre of the Bible” or attempting to cover it in chronological order, which “requires a lot of jumping around, since the Bible is organized by literature type.”
