BUFFALO, N.Y. - Dec. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Nebo Media Group and Brotha Magazine are ringing in the New Year with the launch of its Mentor Awareness Campaign.

"Even though conditions in the country have improved this is something that is needed," says Charles Clark, President of Nebo Media Group.  "Black males are still being impacted greatly by the everyday pressures of the world, and we want to be able to stand in the gap and help offer something that will help build them up rather than tear them down."

The mission of the Mentor Awareness Campaign is to help restore young black males to the path of their intended destiny through literacy and mentorship so that they may have examples in which to model their lives after. Clark adds: "We will accomplish this goal through a series of interviews, articles, written & video blogs informing and showcasing authors, programs and leaders who are changing the lives of our young men."

To aide in carrying out that mission and its objectives Nebo Media is excited to announce that the campaign's spokesperson is Eddie Melton.

Decisions made early in his life with gang and drug violence could have led to headlines about another young black male statistic. However, faith intervened and now as an entrepreneur and business executive doing motivational speaking engagements throughout the country, Eddie Melton sets an example as a trailblazer making headlines that defeat assumptions. His decision to motivate individuals to go against the odds began while working at a mental health agency in Gary, Indiana, a local agency geared to helping those dealing with addiction, social and mental health issues.

In 2010, Eddie was named one of the “Top 20 Under 40” young professionals in northwest Indiana by The NWI Times Media Group. In 2012 Eddie was awarded the “South Shore Leadership Award” from Leadership Northwest Indiana. Most recently, Indiana Governor Mike Pence appointed Eddie to the Indiana Commission on the Social Status of Black Males and the northwest Indiana Region 1 Work Council. He has appeared on the cover of Chicago’s premier Christian Magazine “Elect Magazine” and various other publications throughout the Midwest.
