Film Lab’s First Event of 2014 to Feature Celena Cipriaso , Kenneth Lin and Zhubin Parang!

NEW YORK - Dec. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- The Asian American Film Lab (The “Film Lab”) has announced its first event of 2014, which will feature television writers Kenneth Lin (House of Cards), Zhubin Parang (The Daily Show) and Celena Cipriaso (All My Children).  Cipriaso, Parang and Lin will discuss what it is like writing for their respective shows. Together, they will explain their process, how they broke into the industry and what it is like to entertain millions of viewers.

The event is part of the Film Lab’s signature “Industry Spotlight” program, in which established industry professionals share their knowledge, expertise and advice with up and coming, new and aspiring creatives.   Thus Film Lab Industry Spotlight, “Writing for TV,” will take place in Manhattan on Thursday, January 30^th, 2013, 7-9pm.  The event will be open to the public although, due to high demand, the Film Lab is asking people to RSVP in advance to guarantee a seat.  For information on the event and to RSVP, please visit the Film Lab online at www.asianamericanfilmlab.org.  Said Daniel Finley, “This will be an insightful and educational evening.”

About the Asian American Film Lab

Other Film Lab programs include Unfinished Works, a program for aspiring writers in which selected writers have their pieces performed by Film Lab Actor Directory members in a public table read, followed by a workshop moderated by Film Lab Unfinished Works Coordinator Lorna Nowve, screenwriting contests, and film competitions including the annual 72 Hour Filmmaking Shootout, which has inspired hundreds of filmmakers by helping nascent talent take brave steps towards a filmmaking career.  The Film Lab management team consists of Jennifer Betit Yen (President and Board Member), Aurora Betson (Grants & Fundraising), Dan Finley (Industry Spotlight Coordinator), Daryl King (Connections), and Lorna Nowve (Unfinished Works), along with a dedicated Board, interns and event volunteers. About Celena Cipriaso

Celena Cipriaso has written for ABC's All My Children and is currently co-writing two screenplays with director/producer Diane Paragas of Civilian Studios. Her pilot "Evolved" was a Quarter-Finalist in the Creative World Awards, and her spec of The Walking Dead, "Little Children" was a Semi-Finalist in the Creative World Awards and also in the top 10% of the Austin Film Festival TV competition. As a playwright, her work has been performed in various venues in New York City and throughout the Northeast. Her most recent production will be of her short "Language Lessons" at Bindlestiff Studios in San Francisco in 2014. She's also freelance journalist that's written for CNN, The Root, Slate, Draft, Arts America, Film Buff, Bitch, and Intel.
