The cornerstone of Smart & Handy Renovations is Alexander Emelichev who has been involved in the construction trade for almost 20 years. He began in Clearwater, Florida doing vinyl siding for new construction. In 2000 he had a family emergency back in his hometown of Saratov, Russia and was forced to pick up and return there for the benefit of his young son.

During the past 13 years Alex has gone from being a subcontractor to being the "GC", as we call it here in America, where he has worked on building commercial building from the ground up as well as renovations for investors in the eve growing condominium market in Russia.

In Russia, construction "GC's" are very hands on. They lay the foundation, pour the concrete, erect the walls, handle the electrical and plumbing as well as all of the finish work including intricate drywall and wood finishes. He has honed his skills on all types of floorings, complete bathroom and kitchen gut-jobs and renovations as well as extensive and creative ceiling finishes. He loves creating curved walls, arches and tray ceilings.
