NemaWilliams

Nema (meaning “Sun” in Tibetan) Williams was born in Kyoto, Japan, and lived in Katmandu, Nepal with his mother, brother and Tibetan step father until he was four years old. Nema’s mother was originally from Oakland and moved the family there to be near her sister. This global background is what gives Nema his distinctive multicultural humor. A shy, yet funny boy, Nema was encouraged by his cousins to become involved in a youth theater group. He fell in love with it, but didn’t have the tuition to enroll. Nema mopped floors and built sets in exchange for tuition. The hard work and exposure paid off, as Nema went on to star in Grease, What a Lovely War, and A Christmas Carol. Nema’s rise to success was interrupted when the youth theater was forced to close its doors. Back on the streets, with little supervision and lots of time on his hands, Nema started hanging on the corner after school with the neighborhood thugs. His love of theater pulled him off the streets, though, when he ended up at Dorsey’s Locker, a small bar in Oakland, during an open Mic comedy show. From that stage, Nema stepped right into a spot on BET Comic View and he’s never looked back. Nema Williams has appeared on Comic View seven times, Cedric the Entertainer’s “Starting line up,” “Comic Grove” on Comedy Central, “What Should You Do” on Lifetime, “Comic Remix” on Comedy Central, and Sean “Puffy” Combs’ “Bad Boys of Comedy” for HBO. Recently, Nema has gone back to his theater roots on stage in “I Sing 4 Luv,” a gospel play.

In addition to headlining colleges and clubs across the country, Nema has revisited his global roots by traveling with the Lucky Strike’s Tour through Holland and other cities in Europe, and through the UK with the Real Deal Comedy Tour. Nema has been able to return to Asia several times entertaining our military troops in Korea, Japan, and Iraq with the USO. Most recently Nema performed on the LOL Comedy Festival on Showtime and Martin Lawrence Presents’ First Amendment. Nema’s unique blend of California and global humor has audiences around the world laughing and relating to each other in fresh, new ways.

Ed Blaze

Funnyman Ed Blaze’s life began modestly. He was born and raised by his grandparents in the central east African country of Tanzania; The luxuries that most people take for granted, electricity and running water were non-existent in the small village where Ed lived. Despite these hardships, Ed fondly recalls his uncanny ability to spread laughter throughout the room of the boarding school he attended as a youngster.

In 1998, Ed immigrated to the United States to pursue higher education and big dreams. He initially resided in California, but Ed relocated to the East coast, first to Newark, New Jersey, before finally settling into the hustle and bustle of Washington, D.C. Ed remembers his thoughts about his new environment compared to his native country—everything was fast-paced, and it was a huge culture shock for him. Shocked or not, Ed immersed himself in a wealth of knowledge: he began studying Business Management and computer networking, established himself as an entrepreneur in promotions and video/film direction. Despite these endeavors, Ed’s heart was with his first passion: comedy Life in Tanzania provided Ed with much material for his comedic routines. “I was once invited to go camping,” recalls a laughing Ed. “Not fun for someone who lived in a hut. You want me to have fun? Then take me to a Four Seasons!” Ed’s transition from his native language Swahili to English is also a backdrop used in his comedy.

However, Ed doesn’t limit himself to only talking about African and American culture; his comedy is infused with an array of topics, from politics and current events to human sexuality and marriage, from pop culture to race. Ed draws his inspiration from comedic greats Richard Pryor, Ed Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and George Carlin, among others.

What we're trying to do:

As we mentioned above, we are on a mission to create a comedy tour and deliver funniness one tour bus stop at a time. Easy right? Well, we’ve got the jokes..that we can promise…and we have the contacts to book the clubs…what we need is a way to get to all the clubs…we don’t want to keep you waiting…what we need is a tour bus so we can travel from city to city…well, get there in one piece at least….and we want one big enough to fit surprise guests which we plan on dragging on board to really wow you (as if we weren't funny enough) when we come to your city. We need to secure the bus – and we ain’t to proud to buy used – fuel it, clean it..stock it…used, these can go for upwards of $57,750. The rest of funds raised will go to hiring guest acts, set design, venue rentals when applicable, press, #2 pencils - we like to write joke constantly, panties - we like to throw the out to the audience instead if waiting for the audience to throw them at us..and all those incidentals that sneak up on you when you’re on the road, like breakfast and antibiotics, you never know what can happen!
