BLACKROCK, Ireland - Dec. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- University College Dublin (UCD) has honored the co-founders of Logentries by presenting them with the NovaUCD 2013 Innovation Award.

The Award was presented to Dr Viliam Holub and Dr Trevor Parsons by UCD President, Dr Hugh Brady, at an event held at NovaUCD, the Centre for New Ventures and Entrepreneurs.

The award was presented in recognition of the global success and impact which Logentries, a UCD spin-out company, has achieved in making log management and analytics accessible to virtually anyone.

Established in 2010, Logentries has to date raised $11.1 million in funding from Polaris Partners,Floodgate, Frontline Ventures, RRE Ventures and Enterprise Ireland. The company is usingthesefundstoaccelerateproduct developmentandaggressively driveago-to-market strategy.

At the event Dr Trevor Parsons, Logentries’ Co-founder and Chief Scientist said, “Logentries, with offices in Dublin, Prague and Boston, is now looking to double its size and in the coming months we will be seeking to fill 20 open engineering positions in Dublin where the company is looking for software developers, data scientists and devops engineers.”

Logentries is a SaaS-based, log management service for collecting and analysing huge quantities of log event data and making that data easily accessible to improve IT and business operations. While traditional log management and analytics solutions require advanced technical skills to use or are costly to set-up, Logentries helps developers, IT professionals and business analysts easily unlock the power of log data to improve their operations.

Logentries was co-founded in 2010 by Dr Viliam Holub and Dr Trevor Parsons as a spin-out company from UniversityCollegeDublin’sPerformanceEngineeringLaboratory in UCD’s School of Computer Science and Informatics, afteradecadeofjointresearchwithIBM.

The company continues to work closely with UCD’s Performance Engineering Laboratory on research in areas of ‘big data’ and distributed systems.

Congratulating Dr Holub and Dr Parsons, a UCD graduate, on receiving the NovaUCD 2013 Innovation Award, Professor Peter Clinch, UCD Vice-President for Innovation said, “This year NovaUCD is celebrating its 10th anniversary and it is fitting that a company of the calibre of Logentries, which has emerged from UCD’s research focus on ‘big data’ and the fostering of partnerships by UCD with industry, has been awarded the NovaUCD 2013 Innovation Award. Logentries is an outstanding example of a UCD spin-out company, originally based and supported at NovaUCD, which while only established 3-years ago, has already obtained significant global entrepreneurial success.”

He added, “Having recently secured $10 million in Series A funding, the largest single investment round in a UCD spin-out company to date, I am sure that Logentries is set for even further international growth and expansion in the future.”

He concluded, “I would like to congratulate Trevor, Viliam and the entire Logentries team for all their dedication and over the last number of years and wish them continued success in the years to come.”

On receiving the Award, Dr Trevor Parsons, co-founder and Chief Scientist, Logentries said, “We are honoured to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the Logentries team. Logentries is a great example of the Irish start-up ecosystem at work. From conception within University College Dublin and with a kick-start from incubators like NovaUCD and Dogpatch Labs, Logentries is now in a position where it has been backed by leading US and Irish investors to the tune of $11 million, and now has tens of thousands of users and is in use in over 100 countries.”

Dr Viliam Holub, co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Logentries added, “While we are honoured to accept this prestigious award, the feeling within the Logentries team is that we are just getting started. We are expanding our team rapidly right now and in particular are hoping to attract more talented employees for our Dublin office from a range of disciplines including software development, data scientists & devops engineers.”

Logentries, a NovaUCD graduate company, was also the winner of the NovaUCD 2010 Start-Up Company of the Year Award.

The NovaUCD Innovation Awardwas established in 2004 to highlight University College Dublin’s commitment to innovation. The Award is presented annually to an individual, company or organisation or group in recognition of excellence in innovation or of success achieved in the commercialisation of UCD research or other intellectual activity.
