McNeely the subject of the Youtube viral video after a horrific Base jumping accident at Moab Utah is considered by many to be one of the worlds best Yosemite Big Wall climbers. Climbing Wings of Steel Yosemite's most controversial climb, NcNeely made only the second ascent in 29 years. As the film documents his 13 day climb it also delves in the controversy that blew apart the tighnit Yosemite climbing community and to this day is a lightening rod for dissention among climbers. Accidental Production has released this synopsis of the film. In July of 2011, Ammon McNeely and Kait Barber set out to climb the never repeated route of Wings of Steel on Yosemite’s El Capitan. Wings sat unclimbed since the first ascent in 1982. The first ascent team spent 39 days climbing the controversial route. The result, was death threats, physical assaults and a slander campaign that polarized the climbing community for 30 years. Combined with footage shot during their ascent and told through interviews with Ammon and Kait , the first ascent team, and their detractors, the truth about the most controversial climb in Yosemite history is finally told.
