Assault on El Capitan: Documentary Premiers in Yosemite and set for release
Assault on El Capitan tells the story of Wings of Steel Yosemite's most controversial rock climb. After 30 years of controversy Ammon McNeely begins and adventure that will lead him to the truth behind this infamous route.
Shrouded in mystery since it’s first ascent in 1982 the 1st ascent is part legend and part myth. During Mark Smith and Richard Jensen’s ascent of this controversial route they suffered physical abuse, death threats and sabotage of their gear on thier way to successfully summiting WOS. Though many tried the route remained unclimbed for 29 years. After three decades mystery Ammon McNeely and Kait Barber decided it was time to find out what the legend was all about. After 13 days on the wall of El Capitan the mystery of the route and the controversy would finaly be put to rest. Or would it?
Ammon McNeely one of America’s best and best known rock climbers and adventurers tops the list of many of the world’s most famous climbers as they discuss Wings of Steel and the history making second ascent. Appearing in Assault on El Capitan include: Ron Kauk, Hans Florine, Peter Haan, Eric Kohl, Chris McNamara, Steve Grossman, Richard Jensen, Mark Smith and Ken Yager.
Assault on El Capitan will have it's premier in Yosemite Valley on September 25th.
The San Francisco Bay Area premier will be October 4th at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.
