By: WiMAX Forum The event, which drew more than 100 attendees from over 35 companies worldwide, focused specifically on supporting the oil and gas community in deploying effective and affordable WiMAX networks to expand their communication initiatives. Attendees were treated to a full-day program with contributing speakers from an elite group of key players in the energy industry. The session fostered thoughtful discussions on a wide range of topics, including planning, designing, and deploying Smart Energy networks, as well as best practices for operational efficiencies. Among the presenters were Mike Dalton, Regional Sales Director from Siemens Industry, Inc., who provided an overview of a WiMAX case study. Dalton commented, “The WiMAX Forum provides a ‘think tank atmosphere’ where we can share success stories with one another, and discuss real-world opportunities, challenges, and strategies involved in operating efficient WiMAX networks in our market.” WiMAX has already been implemented by some of the largest companies in the energy industry, and will continue to deepen its foothold over time.
