By: Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation Admission to the museum is free, and we ask that you consider donating a toy the next time you come in for a visit. Recommended donations are action figures, dolls, toy vehicles, puzzles, and toys for babies and toddlers. However, we cannot accept gifts that represent any kind of weaponry, food, clothes, used toys, or liquid products. If the toy requires batteries, please be sure to include them. The Flying Leathernecks has been a San Diego Toys for Tots collection site since 2002. Our goal is to assist the San Diego Toys for Totsin collecting new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the San Diego area and strives to spread a message of hope that will encourage children to grow into responsible, patriotic citizens. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation (the fundraising, funding, and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program) is an IRS-recognized 501(C)(3) not-for-profit public charity. Since its inception in 1947, Toys for Tots has distributed more than 469 million toys to more than 216 million needy children.
