Follow on Google News | Lightning Source Derails Santa's SleighSanta can make a lot of amazing things happen. Getting the Ingram owned Lightning Source to adhere to their own program isn't one of them.
Even after paying a significant up charge to make certain that his books would arrive on time, Lightning Source ignored his emails and requests, but took the additional fees and just went on their merry way. Meanwhile the professional Santa Claus will now show up in Frankfort, Kentucky, but without one copy of his increasingly popular books to sell. “We never even got a response to our emails,” claims Joe Moore, author and professional Santa Claus “I won't disappoint the thousands of people showing up there after telling them I'd be there in full costume, even though I was disappointed by LSI [Lightning Source], myself.” Moore said he paid the extra amount to Lightning Source for express delivery which promises shipment in two days and said he advised the company he needed the books for the Kentucky Book Fair when he placed the order, but never even received a reply or acknowledgment of a problem. “It's always a disappointment when a large company like the Ingram owned giant promises something and doesn't deliver,” said the sad Santa, “but to pay extra for that disappointment really hurts.” Moore said it is becoming increasingly clear why many authors use other companies like Amazon's Create Space and other book printing companies to now print their books and admits he will probably seek alternatives as well. Moore says that one of his titles, Faith, Hope & Reindeer is being made into a major motion picture and that the demand is increasing steadily for the book. He is also set to release his third book in his Santa Claus Trilogy, Glaciers Melt & Mountains Smoke in January of 2014. He is evaluating whether to continue his relationship with LSI or move to another house. “Unfortunately our representative, Erin Weeks, doesn't see any value in communicating with her accounts,” said Moore. Moore said that in discussions with Connie Crowe, the administrator of the Kentucky Book Fair, she advised Moore that she will allow people to order his books and have them shipped afterward, though he stated it is hardly the same. Crowe admitted having trouble working with Lightning Source before to Moore. “They can be very difficult to work with,” she told him. Moore concluded saying, “I saw a couple other authors have also bowed out and hope that LSI isn't the problem there as well.” End
