Brighton Workshop Taps into Growing Contractor Demand

BRIGHTON, U.K. - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- With demand for contractor services reaching a six-year high last month, Worthing-based chartered accountants Carpenter Box are encouraging independent specialists to check that they are making best use of rules governing VAT, tax and asset protection.

The firm is holding a contractor workshop at Myhotel, Brighton on November 20 (6.30pm) that will also cover essentials such as IR35 rules and contract set-up and review.

“As the economic recovery takes hold, companies are increasingly looking to buy-in the specialist support they need to help drive growth, particularly in areas such as engineering, business analysis, IT and digital marketing,” says Nathan Keeley, partner at Carpenter Box.

“The effect of recession means that there are many relatively new entrants operating as freelancers and with the market moving in their favour, contractors need to ensure that they not only comply with government rules but that they have the most tax-efficient business and personal arrangements in place.”

The October 2013 Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) JobsOutlook confirmed that the intention among companies to hire contractors over the short and medium term has doubled over the last 12 months, and nearly trebled over the last two years.
