Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- The Information Security Forum (https://www.securityforum.org/) (ISF), a global, independent information security body considered the world's leading authority on cyber security and information risk management,held its Annual World Congress (https://www.securityforum.org/whatwedo/pwspubliccongress/) November 3-5 at the Marriott Rive Gauche in Paris, France. The event hosted more than 850 international security experts who discussed the key challenges and opportunities that member companies and businesses will face in 2014 including cyber-security, data privacy in the cloud, supply chain security, big data and mobile devices in the workplace.

“Our Annual World Congress provides leading vendors and international security professionals with the opportunity to discuss key security challenges and obtain real-world advice from industry experts from around the world, all at one time and in one location,” said Steve Durbin, Global Vice President of the ISF. “Businesses truly recognize the enormous benefits our organization brings to member companies and our twenty-fourth annual event once again provided a private and relaxed setting where the major players in the industry could meet and exchange ideas.”

Each year, the ISF World Congress features presentations from the foremost international security experts and provides attendees with a setting where they can find solutions to the most significant security problems being faced by organizations today. The event offers the opportunity to interact and build peer-to-peer relationships with senior, global decision-makers and share in the ISF experience. Delegates also have the opportunity to learn how ISF deliverables can be applied in practice through a series of 'Academy Sessions' held immediately prior to the main event.

This year’s ISF Congress dealt with issues ranging from the European Data Protection Directive, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Framework and its implications for businesses, mobile security through to procuring cloud services, management of the supply chain and associated cyber security challenges.  Delegates were able to choose from more than 50 member delivered sessions on best practices in cyber security and risk management from many of the world’s leading organizations along with additional input from security vendors such as Canon, IBM, BT and Symantec on their product and services plans and tools to help security departments deal with ever evolving threats.

In addition, this year’s World Congress featured an extraordinary line-up of keynote speakers including:

·         Bruce Schneier (Presentation: Information Security – Where Next?), an internationally renowned security technologist, cryptographer, computer security and privacy specialist and author of several books on general security topics, computer security and cryptography

·         Donna Dodson (Presentation: The Cyber Security Framework), the Division Chief of the Computer Security Division and Deputy Cyber Security Advisor at the NIST.

·         Sir Ranulph Fiennes (Presentation: There is No Success Without Risk), a British writer, adventurer and holder of several endurance records dubbed by the Guinness Book of World Records as “the world's greatest living explorer”

·         Bruce Dickinson (Presentation: Becoming Strategically Important Through Innovation and Creativity), a British musician, airline pilot and broadcaster best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden
