Shape memory polymers for making security labels

GUANGZHOU, China - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The Guangzhou based company Manborui Material Technology is focused on the development and application of new polymer materials, such as  shape memory polymer (http://www.china-mbr.com/)(SMP); especially those which activate at low/medium temperature.

SMPs are smart materials that have the ability to return from a temporary shape to their original (permanent) shape induced by an external stimulus, often a temperature change.

The main product of Manborui is a SMP label film for security labels. This label can store embossed logo/text shape information in the synthetic-paper-like film, and show this information when exposed to 65°C heat in just seconds.

We assume that this label is not the only line of defense against counterfeit products as such a label might also be copied. The website of Manborui also hints at this with the following text: ‘We have established a complete QC system, to guarantee the all-round product quality. To protect the interests of our customers, a security technology system is also in place to ensure the Manborui SMP products will not be stolen.
