American Paper & Twine Teacher of the Week – Week Nine

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nov. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- “Our partnership with the Tennessee Titans, Titans Radio and Georgia Pacific Communication Papers allows us an opportunity to recognize outstanding teachers throughout Tennessee and the Titans Radio listening area,” said Karen Shaffer, Vice President of American Paper and Twine Co. “We are delighted to honor Ms. Leamon as this week’s recipient.”

Judy Leamon was nominated by Stacie Hyde, a Meigs Middle parent. “Ms. Leamon is very involved with her class. She always has speakers that come and explain history and different regions of the country,” said Mrs. Hyde. “It helps her students to better visualize what these areas are like instead of just using their textbooks. Every year Ms. Leamon also takes them to Nashville to explore the history in Middle Tennessee. Several of our students would never have the opportunity, but Ms. Leamon makes it possible. When students come out of her classroom they have a better understanding of Social Studies/History and they have a friend for life.”

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom, and a new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game. At the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approximately $800) and tickets to the December 29th game vs. the Houston Texans.
