MIAMI - Oct. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Help the Coral Gables Rotaract Club build 10 new bicycles for the women of the Lotus House  –  a homeless shelter for women and children in Overtown – today at the Magic City Bike Collective, located on 1100 North Miami Ave.

Deputy Director of the Lotus House, Anna Frusciante, said the donated bikes will make a large impact on their recipients at the shelter.

“Affordable, efficient transportation is truly life changing, and this project gives that gift to women at Lotus House. Getting to work, home, daycare, the doctor, etc. is often so challenging. With bicycles, women can access these essential resources, for improved health, independence, and the financial resources needed to move from the shelter. We are so deeply grateful for the Rotaract’s great energy and generosity toward this project,” said Frusciante.

The bikes were purchased from the almost $2,000 that the Rotaract, the young professionals branch of Rotary International, raised from a fundraiser at the Fado Irish Pub of Brickell. Ten brand new bikes were purchased with help from the Magic City Bike Collective with the money collected.
