TORONTO - Oct. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Toronto, ON- The Swan Silvertones join Reverend James Cleveland and The Five Blind Boys of Alabama as part of Sonorous Entertainment's Harvest Gospel Album Series. First they were known as The Four Harmony Kings. Then they became The Silvertone Singers. Shortly thereafter this group of singing coal miners, led by Claude Jeter and his soaring falsetto, settled on their final name: The Swan Silvertones. It would become a name firmly rooted in gospel music history. Formed in 1938, Claude Jeter himself remained with the group until 1963, at which time he became ordained as a minister. The lineup of the group changed several times, with the last original member retiring in 1978. In the beginning, they performed in the jubilee style, but eventually grew away from that to a sweet gospel style. In 1959 they recorded one of their biggest hits with their rendition of the gospel standard“Mary Don't You Weep”. This version led to the inspiration for Paul Simon's popular song “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Their hit “Mary Don't You Weep”, as well as their rarer songs like “Til He Meet Me” and “The Fault Is In You” can be found, digitally remastered, on this 12 track release. “Harvest Collection: The Swan Silvertones” is available now in all participating retail and online outlets.
