| Poetry collection launched in LimerickA poetry anthology, published annually by Limerick Arts Office as part of the CUISLE Limerick City International Poetry Festival, was launched last night.
By: Dunphy PR At 69 O’Connell Street last night, 30 poets read their work and had travelled from as far away as Letterkenny to be part of the launch. Other counties represented on the night included Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Waterford and Galway. The book cover is designed by an Irish artist and this year the work of artist Catriona O’Connor was featured. In selecting Catriona for the cover, Bushe commented: "Her exploration of the colours and tones inherent in stone was a revelation to me, as I had thought of stone as basically monochrome. Catriona's paintings realise how stone is part of a whole landscape of vibrant colour. Its colour and form in her work are an echo of that landscape, and a celebration of its richness, that truly makes the stone sing.” The Stony Thursday Book was founded in 1975 by John Liddy and Jim Burke. This is the thirty-eighth issue of this long established Limerick based poetry journal. A New Series was re-established under the editorship of Mark Whelan in 2000. This is No. 12 in that series. With the support of the Limerick City Council and The Arts Council, The Stony Thursday Book has now become an integral part of Limerick’s annual CUISLE International Poetry Festival. CUISLE continues until Saturday 26th October.
