FORT MYERS, Fla. - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Many of the beautiful palms and other native trees in Southwest Florida are under attack. A black sticky substance is showing up on the leaves of trees throughout many neighborhoods in our area, and is spreading to other plants. Leaves are then turning white, and the sooty mold that's produced can turn the leaves, trunk and anything under the infested tree black. What is to blame?  A very unwelcome pest called the Rugose Spiraling Whitefly.

To help with this issue, Fort Myers pest control company, Larue Pest Management has released a new, educational video about the Rugose Spiraling Whitefly epidemic (http://www.laruepest.com/services/palm-and-tree-care/rugose-spiraling-whitefly-treatment-and-prevention/).  The video features Keith Ruebeling, Owner of Larue Pest Management, sharing information about how to tell if trees have been infested with the Rugose Spiraling Whiteflies, and methods of prevention and treatment.

"The Rugose Spiraling Whitefly is a pest that has rapidly taken over Southwest Florida landscaping," said Ruebeling. "Our goal is to help people avoid the detrimental affects of this insect, and enjoy a more beautiful, pest free home -  both inside and out.  The more ways we can educate the public, and warn about pests such as this, the better we are able to help people protect their home and lawn."

This newly released video provides footage of various palms and trees in Southwest Florida, both healthy and those that have been damaged from the insects. It discusses signs and symptoms of a Rugose Spiraling Whitefly infestation, so people know what to be on the lookout for.  In addition, the video highlights prevention methods as well as treatment for trees that have already been affected by this pest.

The release of this video is just one more way that Larue is working to help spread the word about pest prevention in Southwest Florida.

"We're also continuously updating our website and blog with educational resources and information about pests in our area, as well as publishing educational materials and eBooks," added Ruebeling. "We want to ensure that people have access to any information they seek regarding pest control and lawn maintenance. This video will provide them with another great resource, in addition to our existing library of educational eBooks."

The newly released Rugose Spiraling Whitefly video is available to view for free on Larue Pest Management's website.
