Autistic Student's Spelling Test Gives Humanity Greater Lesson

A spelling test from an autistic second-grade student is leaving million in awe at its simple lesson on the complexity of the human brain.

Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- A touching story from Topekasnews.com details how a simple spelling test completed by a second-grade student has an even more valuable lesson for all of humanity (%20http:/topekasnews.com/autistic-second-grader-teaches-rest-us-huge-lesson/).  We take for granted basics about reality, our worldview shaped from experience.

The Topekasnews.com article focuses on how the worldview of an individual can vary greatly, person to person.  The test given to the second-grader was a garden variety spelling exam, but with specific instructions on how to handle word order.

An autistic child's mind can take instructions quite literally, as the test revealed.  For the student's efforts, a letter grade of 'A' was earned because the student followed the instructions to a 'T', beyond that of how many others would not have thought to approach the situation.

The article also brings up questions on how as a whole, public education may need to be reevaluated and not be so 'cookie-cutter', as facts continually show and prove that the human mind is complex and should not be shoe-horned into thinking and being expected to think 'a certain way', especially when it is young, ripe and unique, as the articles showed the student's mind to be.
