How to Relieve Neck Pain at Home

First, heading over to the drug store and getting some over-the-counter pain medication such as acetaminophen(Tylenol) or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin) is in your best interest.  Then, a good practice is to ice for about 20 minutes several times a day.  You can also incorporate some heat treatment as well(hot shower or heat pad), perhaps alternating between hot and cold applications.

In the mean time, it might be also useful to do some stretching, and strengthening exercises.  Remember to be careful, and to do the exercises gently.  Avoid any and all forms of strenuous activity like lifting or certain sports that might aggravate it.  Often, message can be beneficial in the pain and recovery process.  Just remember to let a professional know about your neck injury and pain before receiving the message.
