By: Field of Dreams The construction of Phase 1 of the project had been awarded to Reliable Contracting. The Outdoor Amphitheater not only will act as a place for students and teachers to collaborate in a structured learning environment, it will also be a place for the community to enjoy performances, entertainment, etc. The main goal of the Field of Dreams initiative is to help ensure that all students and the surrounding community have access to a safe and engaging outdoor space for sports, physical fitness activities, recreation, outdoor learning and social interactions. The ribbon cutting symbolizes the continuous effort and support for this community initiative, and the committee is excited to keep the positive momentum going to complete the next 2 phases, including an athletic field and age-appropriate play area. Mike Quigley, Congressman, Illinois 5th who supports the initiative, believes that “[g]reen space in the City of Chicago is limited and I think it is important to take advantage and utilize space that already exists to better the school and the surrounding community.” Alderman Michele Smith, 43rd Ward, who attended the groundbreaking stated the "[t]he benefit of additional open space for not only Alcott students but additionally the community will be immeasurable.” The event will be held Tuesday, October 29, 10:30 a.m. CDT at Alcott, 2625 N Orchard St, Chicago, IL, 60614.
