The main draw for many attendees of Chicago Ideas Week will be the Talks. These informative lectures have been organized into categories ranging from future technology to comedy to politics and will feature between 4 and 6 speakers. Each Talk is intended to run around 90 minutes. The talks aren’t the only activities part of Idea Week. Chicago Ideas Week distinguishes itself from events like TED Talks by adding a few more attractions. First, Labs, where attendees can get hands on time, and more direct access to many of the luminaries speaking at the event, will take place throughout the week. From butchery to bike share with Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, there’s something for everyone to get involved with. Second, Master Classes, on-stage discussions between experts, will give viewers a better picture of the dialogue surrounding various issues and fields. Topics include space exploration, education, gun policy, and more. Finally, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?, gives diners a chance to experience both amazing food and exciting ideas in one place, at leading restaurants around the city. Some participating establishments include Ada Street, mk, and Nellcote. For those interested in Chicago Ideas Week 2013 but unsure what events to follow, the organizers have put together a series of unique Tracks, designed to provide a stimulating and exciting experience throughout the week. These Tracks are divided into themes of Education, Environment, Arts & Culture, Global Affairs, Health & Wellness, Maker, and more. Events at Chicago Ideas Week are ticketed individually, so anyone interested in attending would be wise to check the full schedule for availability and purchase tickets in advance in order to guarantee a seat in the lecture hall or at the dinner table.
