SALISBURY, U.K. - Oct. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- England rugby stars James Haskell and Phil Greening joined forces with Plumb and Parts Center and its suppliers to raise £14,000 for the vital work of two life-changing charities.

Teams from Plumb and Parts, Baxi, Bristan, Fernox, Grundfos, Honeywell, Ideal Standard, Stelrad, Just Trays, Mira Showers, Myson, Sentinel, Worcester Bosch and Twyford Bathrooms battled it out on the golf course, with a charity hole, sponsored by Fernox, on the 17th for donations.

Then in the evening, guests were joined by Haskell and Greening for a charity auction. Suppliers donated items to bid on, including a signed South Africa rugby shirt, a tour of Twickenham and a signed glove from golf legend Colin Montgomery.

The money raised was split between two charities, specialist care centre Castel Froma, and Armed Forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which was established in 2010 by Nikki Scott, whose husband Corporal Lee Scott was killed in Afghanistan.

Castel Froma helps people disabled by brain conditions live fuller lives. It cares forup to 500 people, aged between 21 and 93, with brain injuries, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

“We’re delighted Plumb and Parts chose to support us through their golf day,” said Chief Executive Robert Pearce. “We rely 100% on donations from our local community to keep our rehabilitation programme running, so we are incredibly grateful to everyone for their help.”

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity to help children of men and women killed serving in the British Armed Forces. That doesn’t necessarily mean killed in action in Iraq or Afghanistan, it can be an illness or accident as well.

“We help the kids by giving them days out, presents on birthdays and Christmas, and holidays,” said volunteer Alan Knell. “But it’s really about giving them a network of children in similar situations to themselves.

“We’re a non-profit charity so funding is vital. Every penny we make goes to the children, so events like this are really important.”

The annual event was running for its third year, and is organised by Sean Collins, National Accounts Director for Plumb and Parts Center.

He said: “We’re delighted to be able to support two great charities, and help them carry on their incredible work. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the suppliers who attended the charity day, and were so generous with their donations.”
