Tony Horton BeachBody Workout P90X3 Announced For Release
P90X3 has been announced for release December of 2013. Who is it for and how will it differ from P90X and P90X2? Get your questions answered here.
With over $500 million in sales, its predecessor and namesake P90X has remained one of the largest at home workout series to ever hit the market. That was nearly a decade ago however and while a sequel focusing on building athletic prowess - P90X2 - was released in 2011, it did not rival the popularity of the original. It is beach body’s hope that P90X3 will do just that.
Horton has harnessed the turning of the fitness industry’s interest towards shorter workouts based on mixed martial arts training to provide a high intensity workout schedule that only requires 30 minutes a day. Mixed martial arts training develops the body for maximum balance between muscle and leanness; ensuring the body has just enough muscle for strength while also maintaining a leanness for fast maneuvering. The high intensity workouts increase heart rates and are rumored to provide maximum ‘after-burn’;
The 30-minute time limit has a positive psychological effect as well, according to program creator, Tony Horton, "What I noticed with the test group was…" he explained in an interview, "only doing half an hour, it’s less daunting and so they push themselves more." The workout is designed to be difficult. Beach body’s official promotional video shows scissor kicks, punching and push up jumps just to begin. As one test group participant said, "It’s hard but you get to 15 minutes and it’s like, ‘oh, 15 minutes is done, I’m halfway through!"
Results of the test group, 40 individuals not accustomed to working out, show the gains of the combined high intensity moves with the psychological advantage of shorter workout times. All test participants lost 10% from their overall body fat percentage; for instance, one participant started with 22% and reduced it down to 12%. Victor M lost 20lbs in 90 days and is thrilled with the results.
"I did this in 30 minutes a day. Priceless."
Nutrition is a key factor in the success of the program, as with all beach body workouts. A proper nutrition plan comes as part of the exercise package; it has 20 separate workouts designed to span an average of 90 days for each participant. If it is similar to the layout of P90X, each month will build on the other, focusing first on fat loss, second muscle gain and finally athletic prowess.
