LeBlond Ltd., a legendary name in machine tools, believes the LeBlond RKL Series lathes (http://leblondusa.com/lathes/) are well suited to participate in the projected growth of U.S. metal cutting equipment in 2014.

According to the 2014 Metalworking Capital Spending Survey (http://www.gardnerweb.com/Economics/post/us-metalworking-facilities-projected-to-spend-7442-billion-in-2014----an-increase-of-almost-20-on-new-metalcutting-equipment) conducted by Gardner Research, spending on U.S. metal cutting equipment is expected to rise by 20% in 2014 to  $7.442 billion.

LeBlond Ltd. intends to meet increased demand for this equipment with its two RKL Series models. The company currently sells the RKL-1560V lathe with a 15” swing in diameter and 60” distance between centers. The larger model is the RKL-1960V lathe that has a larger 19” swing in diameter and 60” distance between centers.

The two LeBlond lathes offer varying headstock gear ranges. The RKL-1560V supplies a high torque or horsepower in two ranges – low (20 to 400 RPM) and high (400-2500 RPM). The RKL-1960V provides three headstock gear ranges – low (30-125 RPM), medium (125-450 RPM) and a high range (450-2200 RPM).

“A big difference between the two is that the RKL-1560V has two ranges and the RKL-1960V has three,” states John Cook, LeBlond Ltd. Customer Service Representative. “The three-range 1960V would have a better curve in the horsepower range.”

LeBlond is a legacy name in the machine tool industry and is a descendant of the original R.K. LeBlond Machine Tool Company founded in 1887 to manufacture metal cutting lathes.
