50 Fort Gordon Spouses’ & Civilians’ Club Members Volunteer at Ironman 70.3 Augusta

FGSCC volunteers will provide food and drink to 3,500 athletes during day of service.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Sept. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- When athletes in the Ironman 70.3 Augusta cross the finish line Sept. 29, the first faces they will see will be of members of the Fort Gordon Spouses’ & Civilians’ Club. Almost 50 volunteers from the club will be staffing the Athlete Recovery Area at the Ironman 70.3 Augusta, the largest Ironman event in the world.

FGSCC volunteers will hand out food and drink to athletes while making sure that supplies are restocked and ready. Club volunteers will serve around 3,500 athletes, the number registered for the sold-out event.

“Working with the Ironman 70.3 Augusta is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer and be around some very inspiring athletes,” said Pam Broten, FGSCC corresponding secretary and volunteer team captain. “We are glad to give of our time to let everyone know how wonderful Augusta is and to spread the word about the FGSCC.”

Fort Gordon Spouses’ & Civilians’ Club is an active part of the Fort Gordon community, leading community service projects, operating the Thrift Shop and providing volunteer opportunities, special events and activities.
