| 2013 Q3 FTSE All Share Website Benchmark: Near-perfect score for Marston’s.Wolverhampton-based brewer and pub chain Marston’s holds on to its number one place as best FTSE website – bar none -in our third benchmark of the FTSE All Share company websites in 2013.

Marston’s employs 12,000 people in the UK and has an estate of more than 2,000 pubs in England and Wales. · Our FTSE All share index features some of the best-known companies traded on the London Stock Exchange, and many of the 500 or so compared in our latest Index are household names. First quarter top performer, Birmingham-based St. Modwen Properties, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, scored 8.6 out of a possible 10 in our automated testing to retain second place in the table. St. Modwen focuses on developing commercial property and residential land and is currently bringing in a new £70 million town centre development at Longbridge in the Midlands. There’s been a dramatic return to third place in the Index for world-leading communications company WPP, which rises 11 places on a score of 8.1/10 overall, including an accessibility score of 9/10. London-based WPP, led by the charismatic Sir Martin Sorrell, is the world's largest communications services group, employing 165,000 people working from 3,000 offices in 110 countries. · The Sitemorse FTSE All Share Web Benchmark Index, including more than 500 UK top company websites is a particularly important audit, covering as it does the aggregation of the FTSE 100 Index, FTSE 250 Index and FTSE SmallCap Index. The FTSE All Share comprises around half of the companies traded on the London Stock Exchange. Our automated checks, covering quality, user experience, accessibility, performance and search engine optimisation, provide a useful marker for which of the leading companies in this sector is succeeding online. Amazingly, of our top 20-rated companies only one has dropped in the Index this time – and that only by three places. At fourth place, newsagent WH Smith has a score of 8/10. In 5th place, rising 6 spots is Carpetright PLC (7.9/10) while sixth-placed Land Securities Group stays in the same position (7.8/10). Novae Group PLC rises 21 places to take seventh, while Cairn Energy PLC at 8th rises 37 places (7.6/10). Premier Oil PLC (7.4/10) stays at 9th position, while at 10th UK Mail Group PLC (7.4) is up two places. Drax Group also rises two places to 11th (7.4/10), while UK Commercial Property Trust LD has a massive rise. In 12th place (7.4) it has risen by 257places. Bilfinger Berger Global Infrastructure (7.3) is 13th, up 7 places. No 'ashes' for Phoenix IT Group PLC, rising nicely four places at 7.2/10 to take 14th position overall. .IG Group Holdings PLC (7.2/10) is 15th, up 10 places. PZ Cussons PLC is up a bubbly 46 places to take 16th position with 7.1/10. AMlin, Rank Group PLC and International Ferro Metals LD complete the list of top 20 risers all moving up nearly 20 places on scores of more than 7/10. Some stellar performances this time from our overall top risers, Fisher (James) & Sons PLC (+223), Catlin Group LD (+235), UK Commercial Property Trust LD (+257), Renold (+276) and Shaftesbury PLC (+324). · Fast-loading web pages are important, so readers of our Index might be interested to see the average response time we recorded when testing each site. A response time above 0.75 seconds can have a negative effect on user experience. Barclays, car insurers Admiral Group PLC and Next PLC are in the top five here, with average response times just 0.01 seconds on average for a tested page to load. · Accessibility, backed by law, remains a key criterion for any website. The FTSE All Share companies overall don’t score well in this area, but full marks literally for Marston’s here, with 10 out of a possible ten marks. WPP, Land Securities Group and tobacco manufacturer BAT all scored 9/10, while St.Modwen properties, Imperial Tobacco Group and Berkeley Group Holdings score 8/10.
