LONDON - June 16, 2014 - PRLog -- On the 13th of June the EU Consumer Rights Directive came  into force and 'service' and 'helpline' numbers have to be charged to customers at a 'basic rate'. The new directive will mean that it's now against the law for organisations to only provide numbers like 0844, 0845 and 0870. Instead, numbers such as those beginning 03 and 0800 should be used.

The cost to UK businesses of changing their numbers will be considerable as they will need to update phone numbers published on everything from websites to bills, letterheads and catalogues. The changes may be particularly complex for large organisations with a wide online presence covering websites, mobile and social channels.
