Family-friendly websites Macaroni Kid Coon Rapids and Anoka are partnering with local businesses to bring a Costume Swap Day event to our area! According to Michelle Elliott, Publisher/Editor of the websites, “A costume swap is recycling at its most fun. Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents get to save money and the planet.” Through the efforts of a grassroots, non-profit known as Green Halloween®, families in the area are being invited to take a greener approach to Halloween. With a North Metro swap event in Coon Rapids and drop off locations in Coon Rapids. Andover and Fridley – costume drop-off and swapping is sure to be convenient for local parents.
Something as simple as a costume swap does make a difference. “It may seem like a small thing,” said Elliott, “But this event is about bringing the community together, raising awareness, and showing our children a better way to celebrate.”
Macaroni Kid has announced the drop off locations on their websites this week and parents can drop off costumes through October 2nd.
In exchange for costume(s) you will be given a Swap Ticket to be brought back for the event on October 4th from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Coon Rapids Ice Center.
If you don’t have a costume to swap, come to the event and enjoy fun activities for the kids, vendors for the parents and more! Left over costumes will be available for purchase after 10:30am for $5 each (with proceeds going to Blaine High School Competition Cheer Team).
We are also accepting any costume donations from local businesses.
Contact Michelle if you’d like to donate new or used costumes.
