Compound-centric displacement proteomics method for drug-protein interactions

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. - Sept. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. -- Biotech Support Group LLC, reports on an application note which describes a new method for use of it's product – NuGel™ PROfessor™. Entitled “Compound-centric Displacement Proteomics: New tools and methods to investigate drug & compound protein interactions”, the report describes two important features of the product: 1) a new way to survey or investigate the interactions of small compounds or drugs by displacement elution (sometimes called affinity elution) and therefore does not require covalent immobilization, and 2) label free LC-MS metrics for comparing many compounds at once with equivalent protein backgrounds, not possible with compound immobilization techniques.

“By taking advantage of our composite mixed mode surface chemistries within the PROfessor™ product, we are able to create a weak and non-selective environment for whole proteomes to bind to the bead surfaces. Upon introduction of the compound, the interactomes if you will, can be displaced by the conformational changes associated with drug binding” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D, President & Founder of Biotech Support Group.
