Jawad Akhtar, Head of SAP Delivery at AbacusConsulting, a prolific writer and technical advisor in SAP Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) space, has announced the release of his book, "Production Planning and Control with SAP ERP (http://www.sap-press.com/h3302)". Jawad is the Technical Adviser for SAPexperts (http://sapexperts.wispubs.com/Advisors/SCM-Advisors) and SearchSAP (http://searchsap.techtarget.com/expert/Jawad-Akhtar) websites. This book is available at SAP PRESS (http://www.sap-press.com) official website as well as on Amazon and other popular books download portals.

His traditionally-published book consists of over 1,000 pages of invaluable content covering Discrete, Process and Repetitive Manufacturing Types (both configuration basics and business processes). It is logically divided into six parts and consists of 23 chapters. It contains individual chapters on Engineering Change Management (ECM), Long-Term Planning (LTP), Early Warning Sysem (EWS), Digital Signature, Document Management System (DMS), Reporting, Cross-Modular Integration, Shift Notes and Shift Reports, Sales and Operations Planning (SOP), Demand Management, Materials Requirements Plannings (MRP) among others. It also includes several chapters on Optimization, Monitoring and Evaluation of Production Planning systems.

Jawad says that he has realized that there was not a single reference book or resource to cover so many diverse yet interlinked production processes with other Logisitics components of SAP ERP. He also found that SAP ERP Production Planning Consultants were often struggling to implement or optimize the client's business processes, due to lack of comprehensive information, all combined together at one place. "There are many hidden functionalities in Logistics components of the SAP ERP system," Akhtar said, "and I hope this book will help companies continue optimizing their business processes long after their SAP ERP implementation is complete." Tools and functionality discussed in the book are applicable not only to Production Planning but also to other SAP components, such as Engineering Change Management, Digital Signature, Shift Notes and Shift Reports, Document Management System, Long-Term Planning, and Early Warning System.

The book also helps those Business Process Owners who wish to transition from client side to SAP ERP consulting side.
