RALEIGH, N.C. - Sept. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and Genworth Financial will present Wall Build 2013 on September 25 at the Downtown Raleigh Farmers Market from 10 am to 2 pm. This event is open to the public and takes place in downtown Raleigh, across from the convention center on the grass turf. Attendees and onlookers will have the opportunity to experience the construction of framed walls for a 3 bedroom home that will be one of 32 being constructed by Habitat Wake and its partners this year.

A social media “Hashtag” contest will be incorporated into the event with prizes. Participants can utilize Instagram, Twitter, and  FaceBook with #HABITATWALLBUILD to be entered for a chance to win. Additional events include the “Hammer” contest beginning at 12:00 with prizes and bragging rights awarded to the “fastest hammer.”

In the 4-hour time frame, walls will be constructed by Habitat Wake staff and anyone (16 or older) willing to pick up a hammer and put on a hard hat. This opportunity is intended to promote awareness for the need of affordable housing in our area, to share the mission of Habitat, and to garner volunteers for future construction of homes.
