Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Blogging is an excellent tool for businesses and a way to get your name out to the public.  This is a great brand building technique that has become an important part of society and can have a profound effect on individual popularity.

When publishing a blog, consider creating a unique domain name.  This may cost a little bit of money (maybe $10 – 20 dollars a year), but it will give your blog a more professional appearance.  Domain names are very important in terms of perception and you want to make sure to look the part to your customers.  You want to also make sure the domain name you choose is easy to remember and spell.

You must update frequently and blog regularly.  This strategy connects with the tip on staying consistent mentioned in the last article, but this needs to be emphasized.  Regular blog post helps you rank better with the search engines and lets your customer know you to continue to return.  If your blog posts are not consistent your readership will most likely decrease.

It is useful if you allow guests to make posts on your blog.  This is a fabulous way to network with other bloggers and build your credibility.  Don’t ever underestimate the importance of networking.  In the future if you are in the need of a favor, the person who you allowed to guest blog may be willing to do something to help you.

Use constructive criticism to your advantage to enhance your blog post.  If you receive negative or destructive criticisms, simply reply courteously and continue your work.  If visitors see you are taking the criticism and improving your blog that will let them know you are listening to what they have to say and build loyalty.

Always remember to check your blogs functionality.  You must ensure plugins are working properly on different web browsers or you could lose customers without even knowing it.  In addition ensure that maintenance is being performed on your blog site with minimum changes.  This will ensure your blog is functioning properly.

Social media sites are effective tools to use when promoting your blog.  Make sure the majority of your blog posts have quality content that can stand on their own.  Always remember that blogging is all about social engagement.  This means you should be accessible to your readers regularly.  You can’t just sit at home and do nothing but blog you must be actively engaged in order to achieve success.

When developing your blog post write naturally.  There is no need to overuse keywords, plug-ins, and images within your blog for SEO rankings (Search Engine Optimization (http://www.themogulmindset.com/marketing-tools-for-small-...)).  If you have a natural writing style that flows well, then the content of the blog will help you rank faster in the search engines than trying to optimism your post for the search engines.  Doing the latter will most likely cause your blog to be choppy, poorly written and unnatural.

Write about relevant topics when developing your blog.  It is always a good idea to blog about topics that are going to be in demand for years to come.  This will attract the most traffic over time and allow your blog post to bring in visitors and/or make you money years after you have written the article.

Develop a link building campaign to build links leading to your blog.  This can be done in a number of ways, such as having others link to your blog post from their articles (see the importance of networking above), using link building sites like social monkey and by using social media to link back to your blogs.  Having outside sources link back to your articles gives your blog credibility and looks good in the eyes of the search engines.

One way to engage your readers is to add polls to your blog.  By polling your readers about content on your blog and then posting the results with comments about the outcome, increases the engagement on your site.  This will give you valuable information and allow you the opportunity to make changes to your site in accordance with the interest of your readers.
