"survival of the smallest" - Novel Blurs the Lines Between Real Life and Fiction

"Survival of the smallest" will tug on your heartstrings and give hope to all who have endured the realities of abuse.

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Imagine if you will, a childhood filled with physical, mental, and sexual abuse perpetrated by those who should have been a boy’s protectors. In this suspenseful account of real-life experiences woven into a novel, young j. anton was raised in the 1950s.

Back then, children were legally little more than possessions of their family, and the understanding of what abuse could do to a child’s psyche was just emerging. The chilling, real pleadings of the author paint a harsh picture of child abuse. The book tells of the author’s fight back over a period of three months from a comatose, brain-damaged Vietnam veteran to his realities of today.

Survival of the smallest will tug on your heartstrings and give hope to all who have endured the realities of abuse.

About the Author: j. anton spent his youth on the streets of Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A victim of horrendous child abuse, he spent much of his time learning how to survive. As a combat medic in Vietnam, he was gravely injured. He went on to study animal science at the University of Maryland, and worked in that industry for much of his young adult life. He later acquired a degree in nursing, worked as a trauma/flight nurse, and then taught nursing until he retired. He now lives on an island between the Canadian and U.S. borders with his wife. He shares his story to offer hope to those who have also suffered abuse, and for those who work diligently to help them survive.
