WFTHP PRESENTS 3rd Annual Black Tie & Concert Fundraiser

By: We Feed The Hungry

PHILADELPHIA - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 2013) — On September 29, 2013, We Feed The Homeless Philly  (WFTHP) presents their 3rd Annual Black Tie Affair, a fundraising event to benefit the organization’s mission to provide meals bi-weekly to individuals who are homeless and to the working poor families who are unable to provide meals for their children. The WFTHP Black Tie Affair will take place overlooking the city at the grandeurs Crystal Team Room in the John Wannamaker Building, located at 100 Penn Square East, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Join us for a night of charity, fashion and fun as Philly’s own national recording artist, Kindred the Family Soul and Hidden Beach recording artist, "Mr. Trombone" Jeff Bradshaw takes front stage in a charity concert followed by a dance party.

Building on the aspiration to give back to his community, Founder and CEO Craig Stroman, Sr. organized We Feed The Homeless Philly as an initiative to attack poverty and reduce the epidemic of hungry families by providing hot meals and food packages for low-income families in Philadelphia. “Homelessness is real and is America's inconvenient truth.  Too often, we ignore the plights of our forgotten citizens because of our reluctance to address the problem or a lack of caring for people who are not like us,” says Stroman.  With strength in numbers, we can one day eradicate homelessness in this great country of ours to levels never imagined by our government, local leaders and homeless advocates.  “It's people like you who will take this movement to these levels, it just takes the will to do it.  Please help us help others.  It's you who can make a difference.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported the rate of "food insecurity" in American households remained constant from 2011 to 2012, with 15 percent of the population struggling to afford food at some point during the year; that's 47 million people, roughly the same amount as are enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps. Last year’s fundraising event brought in over 500 attendees as the proceeds enabled us to provide over 10,000 meals to the homeless and working poor families throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. This year, we are expecting over 800 supporters to join us in raising $50,000 to continue providing meals and to house a central establishment for families in the Greater Philadelphia to receive food, job training, financial literacy, basic reading & math skills and computer skills.

We invite you to join We Feed The Homeless Philly in a lavish buffet, concert and dance on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 5pm to 10pm. Sponsors include: Wells Fargo Bank, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, The Philadelphia Phillies and Eatible Delights Catering. Entertainment and music will be provided by Kindred the Family Soul, Jeff Bradshaw and DJ Jazzy Joe.
