The Cellar Trust's Community Day A Great Success!

SHIPLEY, U.K. - Sept. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The Cellar Trust (http://www.thecellartrust.org/) held a Community Open Day (http://www.thecellartrust.org/events/community-day-2013) on Saturday 7 September. The event was a great success with hundreds of local residents attending over the course of the day ...despite fears over bad weather!

The aim of the event was to inform local residents about the work that goes on here at The Cellar Trust, the range of services that we have on offer to the general public ...and most importantly to raise awareness of the various mental health issues that affect one in four people in the UK.

Clive Newitt, Marketing & Media Officer at The Cellar Trust said “We operate from a residential area and many of the local residents who walk past our building every day probably don’t know what goes on here. So we decided to hold a Community Day to raise awareness of what The Cellar Trust is all about.

Activities at the event included a bouncy castle, cake decorating & face painting for the kids; a barbecue; a cake sale; free trial classes of performing arts; a free introduction to Pilates; an art exhibition by Pauline Gill; as well as various food and craft stalls. Entertainment was kindly provided by a traditional Yorkshire brass band, the fabulous Hall Royd Band, who went down very well. The Cellar Trust also produced a free booklet which included tips for keeping your mental health in tip-top condition. There were also DVDs about mental health playing throughout the building as well as interactive “Adult Directions” services running where visitors could explore career ideas.

The event was kindly supported by Warburtons and City of Bradford MDC (Shipley Area) who contributed towards funding the event and Morrisons Supermarkets who donated food and drinks as well as products for the raffle.
